Thyme

As early as in the ancient civilization of Egypt, people knew about the antiseptic effect of thyme and its beneficial effects on the respiratory system. In Greece and Rome, thyme was considered as an extremely useful medicinal plant and even today thyme can be found in cough syrups. In addition, the herb, which is native to the Mediterranean region, has become a welcome ingredient in Mediterranean cuisine thanks to its unmistakable, spicy taste – in combination with meat, potatoes, pasta, tomatoes or mushrooms.
